In preparation for one of my classes which I will begin to teach this evening, I took a trip to one of the locations we’ll be shooting at to see what I would see. I’ve been here before, however, not in the frame of mind I had today. Since studying Taoist principles and how they relate to Photography, my eyes are seeing old scenes in a brand new way. Seemingly simple and mundane subjects have become beautiful and abstract. Too much in the frame clutters. I have become very selective with what is in my frame before capturing the photo as it is meant to be, sometimes resulting in very minimalistic photos, sometimes not. I think I’ve seen this way before, I just did not realize it or cultivate it. I am looking forward to what lies around the bend and I am excited that I have the opportunity to share this new way of looking at and photographing the world.
